USSD with Service Creation Environment

Value-added services are now an essential element in the range of products offered by a mobile operator, promoting customer loyalty providing an important revenue stream in their own right.

USSD can give almost all subscribers a WAP like service without having a WAP capable terminal. This gives good means of competition and short payback time for the service provider.

Why introduce USSD

USSD is a GSM service that allows high-speed interactive communication between the subscribers and applications across a GSM network. A subscriber requests services by entering a specific short sequence of characters at the handset, such as *101#. This sequence is passed across the mobile network to the USSD Gateway and routed to the application.

The key features that make USSD attractive as a message bearer are:

Service Creation

The USSD Application Server includes a Service Creation Environment for developing USSD services. This SCE was designed to address the need of the mobile operator when building, deploying and monetizing a wireless data offering.

The platform is a fast and efficient tool for the creation of USSD services by means of a graphical user interface for the design, generation and management of services, menus and dialogues, providing access and delivery of USSD content with ease.

Besides from developing new services using the SCE, IN Switch Solutions also develops and provides optional turnkey USSD services that can be deployed into the USSD Application Server.
