Mediation Device
As competition continues to heat up in the telecommunications business carriers need to find ways to grow top line revenues and enhance margins. Operators are looking for a cost effective way to maximize their savings by making better and safer the communication between the different components of the operator infrastructure.
Product Description
A "Mediation Device" is a device that is capable of originating events and sending different kinds of messages to the operator's network. These events are generated every time a message arrives to the Mediation Device. The message that arrives to the device can be of any type, depending on the operator's application.
The Mediation Devices count with SS7/C7 and TCP/IP interfaces and support several protocols (TCAP, MAP, CAMEL, INAP, ISUP, XML, SMPP and others) so they can be connected to almost any entity in the operator's network.
One example of application of the Mediation Devices could be as a complement of others IN Switch, for instance, mediation devices are the perfect complement for monitoring modules. With these two modules, operators can originate different events according to the messages across the signaling link. In this case, the mediation device entries are the outputs of the monitoring module, and the outputs of the mediation device could be for example a message to a CDR server, an instruction to a SMSC, an HLR notification or whatever the operator needs.
The Mediation Devices may also be used as filters for example, filtering the part of the messages that don't have to pass from one side of the network to another. |
